Earth Beat

The earth urged - listen to my beat
Match my rhythm to your feet
Like wind gently dancing with Savannah grass
The wind whispered fly -
Her heart whispered - be free
The tree told her of roots -
Deep - Powerful - Strong
Her feet told her stand
Catch the wind and dance
The stars talked of foreign lands
Her eyes talked of ancient memories
The rivers sang of endless time
Her blood sang of kindled passion
The Sun spoke of kissing mountain peaks
She spoke of living a thousand lives

Land and Sky

Savannah burnt –
Stalks crumble in the dry wind
She looks down – walks gently – crunching- dry, broken - ashen things
Looking for the sign of life anew
In black ash - red and brown soil –
A land intermeshed with history, hearts and souls
A land of rebels and dreamers-
A land burnt – razed – ashen

Darkness in the sky –
An Angry, vengeful howl
She looks up – a sign – a promise – she prays
Hangs low on the high and ancient earth
Darkness will meet darkness
Creating light – vivid – dangerous –
A sky of seasons changing, swirling and bringing
A sky of hopes and visions
A sky lit – bright – dotted dreams

Land meets Sky –
Frightening, stirring and electrifying
She looks on – stunned – mesmerized – lost
Encompassing intensity
A heaviness and lightness surrounds the earth
Battle sounds – loud – painful – liberating
An earth for the future
An earth of wet green and dampened ashes

An earth free – whole – balanced

Lost little lady

A shadow surrounds her mind
Savannah free -
A vast nothingness - is what they see
They are not of her kind

Lost little lady - what do you see?
Intricate, Inter-linked, - Interrupted
Lost little lady -what do you see?
Hunger, Greed, -Consuming

Little lady - what will you lose?
Identity.
Little lady - what will they lose?
Humanity.

A shadow surrounds her mind
Born free - bred to be
Lies surround her - who is she?
What will she find?

Venture to the brave new world
Lost little lady, find your corner
and if you could -
Gather your dragons - gather your kind

Paradox of Man

Progress will be his destruction
Paradise will be his ruination
Seers whispered warnings
The wise screamed caution
Yet he stumbles forward ever more
Seeking glory beneath the earth
He forgot to seek the stars above
For they have lessons to teach
Shine and twinkle as they may
One day - they will be naught
But a streak of burning flame
Eternity frozen in time
And to contemplate some rhyme
think of E. E Cummings and his work:
"Pity this busy monster, manukind,
not. Progress is a comfortable disease"

Shadow of man

Standing beneath the shadow of the man, even here he begins to step.
Those most sacred of places, defiled by his ugly vision.
He brings nothing but destruction, despair and division.
Here once where where we freely roamed - now; monitored and regularised.
Standardised and sterilised.
A sadness creeps and overwhelms as the shadow casts
With his eyes so far ahead following his pointed finger.
He forgets to seek the ground upon which he walks
It is a forecast of change, a forecast of destruction
As the shadow walks, repeating the vision of those before him
Repeating the mistakes, as yet again he refuses to hear the people
As his feet crush and shadow stretches, the crevices are filled with sorrow
And no one dares strike a match for fear his shadow snuff the light

Return of Rupununi Rain

The air stills, the sound of silence is deafening -
My heart fills, the sound of blood pumping.
Raindrops scatter and damper red dust -
Brilliant green against black soil.
The dream of life returns -
We have learnt to ignore the sign,
Content to focus on creations of our kind.

The air stills, the sound of silence is deafening-

My heart fills, the sound of blood pumping
Black and grey - now the colour of promise
A dream of the heart's home - days in August
The dream of life returns -
A child's hope - feelings of freedom
For those born in May's Eden

The air still, the sound of silence is deafening -

My heart fills, the sound of blood pumping
Kanuku capped with foggy, misty love -
Making visions crisp and bright
Bringing the Rupununi to its might
The air stills, the sound of life is encompassing
For those who care to listen - sound of life is freeing

Whole Soul

Say what you will and do what you must
But what will you have when everything is dust
A house filled with things and no life
Memories full of petty strife
Afraid of your own soul -
Because you will never be whole
So you tear at our flesh, to pull us down
You stand there with that silly frown
But the more you say, the more I see
That unlike you, we are truly free
We have souls that stand as one
So brush it off, we have already won

Ghost
