Savannah Flower

A rose is pretty, no?
Inspired poets, lovers and painters
But- it's pruned, trimmed and trained
Watered, packaged and ordered-

A rose is pretty, no?
But- it is a beauty, demanding and vibrant

Savannah flower hides -
among the brown and green
Unnoticed - in its fragility
Yet- it grows in adversity
With no attention or demand-

Until seeking eyes -
Glimpse color flash-
Purple, pink, blue, white -
hidden among the brown
Quietly, prettily - Hardcore

It cannot be picked-
Stored and sold
Wilting when placed in a vase

Savannah flower beauty lies free
Not to be bought and put on the mantel

Savannah flower -
to be admired in its nature

A rose is pretty, no?
but it is a beauty pruned, trimmed and trained

Savannah flower beauty lies free
Beauty in Adversity
